Welcome to Chalet Hotel Champs Avalins! Apart from the advantages of the excellent location at the foot of Val d’Isère’s La Daille slopes, you are assured a genuinely warm welcome from our team of professional, friendly staff, led by an experienced Manager. From the moment you walk through our door, their foremost goal is to ensure that the Champs Avalins provides you with excellent friendly service, wonderful food and outstanding value for money. ‘Location, location, location!’ In common with the rest of Val d’Isère’s La Daille area, the hotel might not win any awards for the cutest or prettiest exterior in the Alps, but as with all properties, it is the location that really counts! And that’s where the Champs Avalins really scores. You can ski back to within just 50m of the hotel, and each morning you have a choice of lifts right on hand to whisk you up the mountain. From an après-ski point of view, there are a couple of popular bars to choose from in the immediate vicinity, plus of course our own residents’ hotel bar, with some of the best prices in resort. Another favourite is ‘La Folie Douce’, at the top of the La Daille gondola, which offers great music to accompany your well-earned après-ski drink, and the chance to ride down the gondola if you decide against that last run down! On top of all which is the legendary and varied nightlife of Val d’Isère centre, which is only a short free ski-bus ride away (2-3 minutes), with one of France’s most efficient shuttle services, which runs until midnight / till 2am. in high season. Comfortable Hotel Facilities Inside the hotel, the Champs Avalins offers a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The attractive restaurant on the first floor has views to the piste, and forms the centrepiece of the hotel, setting the scene for our fine Culinary Choice meals. Our residents’ bar is ideal for afternoon tea, or a pre- or post-dinner drink and is a lively venue for swapping the days ski highlights. For your added flexibility and enjoyment we offer a choice of dinner times, so guests can make the most of Val’s après ski or après dinner activities. Equally importantly, the bedrooms are generally a good size and attractively furnished, and all of them have well appointed shower or bathrooms, most with smart new tiling from floor to ceiling. Most rooms have balconies, many of which are south-facing and overlook the piste where the World Cup Downhill run finishes, and there are some pairs of rooms with an inter-connecting door available on request. Ski Area Access Swift access to the heart of the Espace Killy ski area is actually even better from here than from Val d’Isère’s resort centre, with three main lifts to choose from, all within a few minutes’ easy walk from the hotel. The Funival Express funicular railway zooms you straight to the top of Bellevarde at 2,827m, giving you a choice of runs to the left down into Val d’Isère and the Solaise lifts, straight on towards the Tignes side of the system, or inviting you to try out the famous World Cup downhill course back down to the hotel. Alternatively, both the Daille gondola and the Etroits triple chairlift start just 300m from the hotel, and take you up into the big open snow-bowl which lies between Bellevarde and the Tovière ridge, with its fantastic snow-park and timed slalom run. Again, you have the choice from here of taking a succession of lifts across towards Solaise and beyond to the Col de l’Iseran, or easier still, taking one lift up to Tovière, and immediate access to the whole of Tignes. There is also a dedicated beginners’/improvers’ area with two drag-lifts at the foot of the main lifts.
